In 2014, students and graduates from Middlesex University's BA Illustration course took part in a unique collaboration with Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies.
They were invited to create a series of illustrations bringing to life the experiences of Hertfordshire policemen during the Great War, using rare rediscovered police records as their source material. Stories of shell shock, spying fears, rationing, black-outs and desertion became the inspiration for a striking set of illustrations which were exhibited to much acclaim at the Bishop's Stortford Museum.
The images have since been made into animations and compiled into graphic novels, and will be on display in Middlesex University's Grove Atrium for two weeks.
