Paul Pacifico joins us to discuss the future of the music industry, particularly from the perspective of the artist, budding or established.

Paul is CEO of the UK’s Featured Artists Coalition (FAC), the music industry organisation that represents the interests and rights of artists. The FAC has over 5,000 members and a Main Board that includes Nick Mason (Pink Floyd), Ed O’Brien (Radiohead), Sandie Shaw, Annie Lennox, Katie Melua, Imogen Heap, Fran Healy (Travis) and others.

Paul is also President of the International Artist Organisation (IAO), which unites artist organisations from different countries to speak with one voice. The IAO now includes 10 country-members from across Europe and is growing fast.

In his early career, Paul spent almost ten years in the City in banking and strategy consultancy before leaving in 2005 to focus on Specific Music, a creative music consultancy that designs and delivers bespoke music for industry clients as well as brands and charities.

Paul also founded The AllStars Collective, comprising 40 of the world’s top session musicians. He continues to perform and record with his band, Pacifico Blues. In November, Paul will succeed Alison Wenham as CEO of the Association of Independent Music (AIM).

This free event is part of the Concerts and Colloquia series put on by the Department of Performing Arts.

    Refreshments will be provided.
