Loan a laptop
We run a laptop loan scheme which allows students to borrow a laptop free of charge for up to three hours. These laptops have most software installed on student PCs and they can connect to the campus Wi-Fi network.
Your personal laptop
In addition to supporting university provided hardware and systems, Learning Resources helpdesk staff are happy to offer advice and guidance to students who are experiencing difficulties with their own PCs or laptops.
Learning Resources has also produced comprehensive documentation explaining how to set up your laptop to use the university wireless network and staff at Computing Helpdesks will be able to answer queries on wireless access.
While our staff may be able to suggest potential solutions to problems on personal computers, and while help from university staff is, needless to say, available free of charge, there may be times when you need more comprehensive assistance, repairs, or sales of PCs, which can still be handled conveniently within the university by a private company operating at the Hendon campus.
Software for you computer
Middlesex University has licences for some software such as like SPSS and Minitab so students are able to install them on their personal computer.
As security is an important issue in Middlesex University, University has purchased a full licence of Sophos Anti Virus so students can use on their home computers.
There are also many discounted software for students which can be purchased through Civica website.
