London: Hendon - facilities and study
The Hendon campus is home to the Business School, the School of Engineering and Information Sciences and most courses from the School of Health and Social Sciences. Art, design and media courses are taught from our new purpose built Grove building.
The Hendon campus has been the focus of the largest development in our University’s history, with over £95 million invested. The historic College Building has been refurbished and now boasts an arching glass roof across its courtyard – a place for students to meet, relax or access our wi-fi facilities.
Our art, design and media students are based in The Grove, the new building on our Hendon campus. Whether your interests lie in art, fashion, film, design, television production or photography, dance, music or theatre, the new spaces and studios are fully equipped to help you express your creativity. The world-renowned BPR Architects designed The Grove with a two-fold purpose; to provide top class teaching spaces and pleasant social surroundings.
The Hatchcroft building, which opened in 2008, includes state-of-the-art biomedical, psychology and computer laboratories. We offer the best psychology facilities in the UK, including psycho-physiology and social observation labs, a video editing suite, a virtual reality lab, and an auditory cognition lab and testing cubicles.
The glass and steel Sheppard Library has room for up to 8,000 students, offers 738 open access study places and 246 open-access IT work stations. It also provides an effective and innovative learning environment for all business, computing and social science students.
Life on campus
We have a purpose-built venue for students including places to eat, socialise and relax. Our refurbished gym offers fitness facilities to all students at a fraction of the price of a commercial gym and we have outdoor football, tennis and netball courts. There are cafes across the campus, allowing you to duck out of your studies or catch up with friends.
Our buildings are set in leafy grounds which making us one of the few London universities to offer a true campus experience. Brent Cross shopping centre nearby offers opportunities to shop and for student employment.
We have dedicated childcare facilities for students, purpose-built student accommodation and an active Students’ Union.
Hendon has the most diverse student body of all our campuses and this is reflected in the societies and extra-curricular activities on offer: these include such varied activities as Bhangra dance classes, comedy events and sports.
