Inspiring spaces for learning
Spacious, air-conditioned classrooms have been designed to accommodate lectures, seminars and laboratory groups of different sizes. Set against the scenic Mauritian backdrop, could there be a more inspiring space for learning?
Learning resource centre
Our spacious library provides the learning materials needed for each module. These include books, online journals, a magazine collection and audio visual materials - some in print and others in electronic formats. The library catalogue shows what is available. The electronic sources pages display the University’s databases and full text online journals. Students are helped to access these and to gain the skills they need to evaluate information sources critically.
Social spaces on campus
The spacious café/restaurant is the social hub of the campus. All meals are served here, and students can meet and socialise here throughout the day for snacks and drinks. Indian, Mauritian and European cuisine is served.
Accommodation: living on campus
The cost of living in Mauritius for students living in halls of residence is about GBP275 per month (about a third that of the UK). Brand new accommodation has been custom-designed for 64 male and 35 female students. This is phase one of the development.
- Male student rooms are single rooms or shared between two students
- Female student rooms are single rooms
- Half a room (for a male student) or a full female student room is approximately 90 square feet
Each student will have:
- A single bed
- Storage, including wardrobe and chest of drawers
- A study area including desk and shelving space
Some shared rooms also have a balcony. An all-inclusive accommodation package is available that features three meals a day served at the cafeteria. There is a regular shuttle bus from the campus to Vacoas and to the major supermarket.
Private accommodation
Additional students will be housed in private rented accommodation. The university will help in finding accommodation near the Campus if needed.
