Students with children

childcareMany of our students successfully combine study with parenthood.  With our flexible study programmes and extensive online learning materials and support, our academic culture is very supportive of students with children.

Nursery locations

We have professionally staffed nurseries at our Hendon and Trent Park campuses, plus half-term playschemes at Trent Park.  Nursery opening hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm at Trent Park and 8am - 6pm at Hendon.

Applications

Childcare services are available to all students but as places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis, we recommend that you apply for a nursery place when submitting your initial course application.

You can contact the nurseries directly:

Your children

We stimulate and entertain our children through structured activities and informal play. We carefully consider and plan the nursery day to achieve the total development needs of the children.  Some examples of activities are:
• Playing with water and sand – this introduces experiences of touch, but also concepts like full and empty.
• Painting – introducing colour, perspective and feelings.
• Cutting and sticking, which help to co-ordinate hand and eye movements.
• Stories and music develop the childs vocabulary and understanding of language, rhythm and rhyme.

The nurseries have a keyworker system, so your child will have a special adult with whom they develoop a strong relationship through shared activities. Records are kept of each child’s development and parents are asked to contribute to these records.

Read more on the nurseries on our student nursery pages.
