Join University sports teams

We have over 30 sports teams at Middlesex competing in a range of student leagues and competitions. Our sports teams have achieved success at regional and national competitions and out students have represented Great Britain in international competitions, such as the World Student Games and even the Olympics.

We have teams competing in all the most popular sports like football, rugby and tennis, as well as some more unusual sports like futsal, cheerleading and taekwondo.

Come along and try out for a team, with trials taking place at the start of term. Even if you're not selected for a team, you can still take part by joining in our Free Social Activity Programme or play with friends on campus.

What helped me make my university experience outstanding was joining the volleyball team. We are not only teammates but also very good friends.

Support and development

Coaching and volunteering

Middlesex University Sport and Recreation offers students different National Governing Body coaching and officiating awards, as well as first aid qualifications. Get sports or fitness-related qualifications in exchange for volunteering when you can use your skills for real life projects. It's great experience for future paid part-time work as a sports coach or match official.

Volunteering abroad

We have an exciting international volunteering programme, providing students with opportunities abroad on local projects including event management and leadership training. For example, you could get the chance to travel to China or Mauritius where you'll join staff to deliver sports coaching to local communities.

Scholarships and support

Our sports scholarships are available to talented sports performers who are keen to compete for the University. You might be eligible for a scholarship, bursary or award.
