    Local facilities

    At Middlesex University, we are committed to providing a wide range of sporting activities and have developed links with a number of local community sports clubs. Students are encouraged to participate in these opportunities and to make direct contact with sports clubs.


    London Capital Basketball Club

    London Capital is the foremost basketball club in London, playing in the top-flight basketball league in the country - BBL. The University has sought to develop a partnership with Capital to provide education, scholarships, and playing opportunities to high calibre players as well as opportunities for Middlesex students to undertake sport science placements with the team. The University men's team trains at the Academy and opportunities to play with Capital are always available for quality players.

    Southgate Hockey Club

    Southgate Hockey Club is one of the best-known clubs in the country, offering play at Men's National league, Men's London League, and Women's Middlesex League levels. The club is situated at the Trent Park campus of the University.

    Minchenden Netball Club

    Training takes place at Middlesex University Sports Hall, Trent Park on Thursday evenings from 8pm-10pm (times subject to change). Home matches are played at Broomfield Park (Palmers Green) on Saturdays and the club has a number of teams entered in the North London League. The club is open to girls/women aged 14+.

    London Skolars Rugby League Club

    Founded in the Centenary season of the Rugby Football League (1995) by the Student Rugby League Alumni, the club was principally designed for students who graduated from further education and were living in London. Training sessions for players take place on the Astro Turf at the Hendon campus on Tuesday evenings (term time only).

    Old Grammarians Rugby Club

    Old Grammarians play in the Herts/Middlesex rugby league. Training sessions take place each Wednesday evening at 7.30pm, at the Worlds End Lane training ground.

    Barnet and District Athletic Club

    Barnet and District Athletic Club is a long-established club that caters for various ages and standards of athletes. The club is based in New Barnet, with training taking place on Thursday evenings at 7pm. Regular coaching sessions are also held in Trent Park on Saturday mornings and on Tuesday nights (track) at the Barnet Copthall Stadium.

    Trent Park Runners

    Trent Park Runners offer both competitive and social running opportunities for all standards of athlete. Meeting at the Southgate Hockey Club at Trent Park, coaching is available at their training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm.

    Barnet Copthall Swimming Club

    The Barnet Copthall pools are a short distance from the Hendon campus. The swimming club is one of the foremost in the south of England and provides the highest levels of coaching and competition with some of its swimmers competing in recent Olympic games.

    Griffins Swim Club

    Griffins Swimming Club offers the highest level of swimming and coaching with four sessions at the modern Southbury Road Pool in Enfield. The club has a broad range of swimmers with squads ranging from national level to small teaching groups.

    Table Tennis

    Urban Progress Table Tennis Club

    Middlesex University has developed links with a local club in order to help the ongoing development of table tennis. Practice sessions are available throughout the week and take place at various venues in Edgware, Barnet, and New Barnet.
