Middlesex University recently played host to the Rector and senior staff from Al-Farabi National State University, Kazakhstan, to explore ways in which the two organisations can work more closely together on research and programme development.
Al-Farabi National State University is the most prestigious Higher Education Institution in Central Asia with many staff members of national academies.
The existing partnership has led to international awards including the prestigious NATO Science for Peace programme in relation to research into radio-nucleotide residues in Semipalatinsk, a testing site for the former Soviet Union's nuclear weapons on the Steppes in north east Kazakhstan.
The partnership will be led by Professor Mukhambetkali Burkitbayev, Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at Al-Farabi and Professor Hemda Garelick, Dr Alan Page and Dr Huw Jones from Middlesex University
