Enthusiastic Middlesex University students are putting on a vintage Valentine’s tea dance for the elderly community of Enfield.
Giving Time Events, the charity set up by the London students, was created by a combined passion to provide fun and fulfilling events for those who are regularly forgotten about in times of celebration.
As part of their course, the students are putting on 1950s style live swing music, dancers, and plenty of tea and cakes in the beautiful surroundings of Trent Park. The group hope to give around 40 elderly residents a Valentine’s to treasure.
Organiser and Middlesex University third year BA Music & Arts Management student Jess Treadgold said: “We hope to unite communities and foster a sense of value. We want to provide our guests with an event that is active and fun for a generation that has given so much to our society.
“Our slogan - giving money has a price, giving time is priceless - demonstrates that we see time and energy as more valuable than money.
“The event is completely free of charge to our guests, however in order to do this we need all the help we can get. Generous donations will enable us to provide the catering, dancers, musicians and decorations. Everything we raise will go towards the event – our target is £500.”
