Middlesex University is committed to giving students some of the best campus facilities in the UK  - and these efforts have been recognised with a shortlisting in the Guardian University Awards.

The University is one of three to be nominated for the inaugural awards in the facilities category.

Middlesex has invested £200 million in a decade-long project to create the best single campus in London – a rarity in a city where most universities have multi-campuses.

The Guardian University Awards acknowledges best practice, achievement and innovation across a range of categories. The facilities category looks at excellence across all the university’s facilities- including accommodation, ICT, libraries, catering and study spaces. Winners will be announced on 27 February 2013.

Virutal tour call-to-actionMiddlesex’s improvements have delivered cutting-edge facilities in new sustainable buildings and a complete refurbishment of every classroom and all existing buildings. Central to the project was developing a sustainable campus, minimising the environmental impact and working closely with the local community and Barnet council.

The Rickett Quadrangle is the buzzing centrepiece of the campus and a favourite social space for both staff and students. The recent £80 million Grove building - described as “world-class” by the Greater London Authority - houses unrivalled facilities for art, design and media.

The purpose-built Sheppard Library is designed to allow reconfiguration for innovations and new styles of learning, while the state-of-the-art Hatchcroft science building contains new lecture theatres and specialist laboratories.

In the last year, ICT facilities have been updated with wireless access available throughout the campus and the University has one of the largest banks of Apple Macs in the country. There are also ten catering outlets across campus with a choice of cuisine and cafes for students.
