North London law firms are set to give free general legal advice to local people on everyday issues such as compensation for accidents, consumer rights and landlord disputes, in a new initiative set up by Middlesex University’s School of Law.
The sessions will allow local residents access to useful legal guidance about the types of disputes that can occur as they go about their day-to-day business and will help the general public to be more aware of their legal rights.
The first event in the series will see Brent Street firm Compensation Solicitors Online give a talk and take questions from the public on holiday claims, accidents in shops, compensation to victims of crime and motor vehicle accidents.
Middlesex University Principal Lecturer in Law Dr Susan Scott-Hunt, said: “People in the local area are on the doorstep of a thriving university law school with good links to the local legal community. We want to use those links to help residents access useful legal advice about the types of disputes that impact on most people at some point and can be confusing and frustrating without clear professional legal guidance.”
The first event, with Compensation Solicitors Online, takes place on Monday March 25 from 5-7pm in Hendon Town Hall, committee room 2. Places are free can be booked in advance by emailing email@example.com.
