Middlesex fashion student Luke Anthony Rooney is celebrating after dressing celebrity Kimberly Wyatt in his glittering designs  at the British Summer Time concert in Hyde Park, London, in front of thousands on Sunday 7 July.

The final year student created three outfits for the former Pussycat Doll and ‘Got to Dance’ TV star, Kimberly, who performed alongside celebrities such as JLS, The Beach Boys, The Saturdays and Paul Young at the packed concert.  Luke was also on hand backstage to dress Kimberly and ensure she shone in his designs.

Kimberly showed off three of his creations on stage at the outdoor concert and wore another backstage during filming.  His panelled designs had a 70’s disco feel and ensured Kimberly stood out at the star-studded concert.

Middlesex student Luke from Golders Green said: “It’s such an honour to design outfits for someone as high profile as Kimberly, especially as I am only due to graduate next week!  She’s very down to earth and sweet.  I’ve really enjoyed the experience and it’s been exciting to have my designs in front of thousands of people so soon after finishing my final year.”

Luke was selected by Kimberly’s stylist after impressing him with his final year collection at the Middlesex University fashion show.  Luke then attended a number of fittings with the star to create the outfits which had to be suited for a dance performance on stage.

Kimberly’s stylist Lee Lapthorne said: “It was great to produce the end of year Middlesex University Fashion show, it is always fun working with new talent. Luke's collection was ideal for Kimberly's dance performance, the colours and materials worked so well.”

Luke is the second Middlesex student to have his creations worn by Kimberly, after she wore Middlesex fashion student Jisselle Pineda’s designs at the premiere of the blockbuster film World War Z.

Luke hopes to launch his own label in the future.
