She collected her award on 15 July, addressing over 1000 Middlesex business students receiving their own degrees, urging them to “Choose a job you love, and it will feel like you’re not working”.

Ms Lafon, who studied at Middlesex in the 80s receiving a First Class Honours Degree said: “My education gained at Middlesex played a key part in helping me start my career, added to this my studies helped perfect my business English for the global market place.”

The award was made during the University’s annual graduation celebrations, with honorary degrees presented to people who have made an outstanding contribution to their profession or the community.

Middlesex University Vice-Chancellor Michael Driscoll said: “Beatrice has a highly impressive CV and I’m delighted that our business graduates can take on board words of wisdom from someone who has held leadership roles with some of Europe’s most high profile companies. She’s made her way to the very top of her profession and will inspire others to follow in her footsteps.”
