TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk's rankings, which were published on Monday 25 April 2016, have placed Middlesex as the second highest modern university in London and 12th highest overall in the capital.

Middlesex is the highest climbing university in London and one of biggest overall in the 2017 rankings of 127 universities. Last year, the university was 89th in the table following a climb of five places.

Professor Tim Blackman, Middlesex University Vice-Chancellor said: “We’re delighted to see Middlesex enjoy such a dramatic increase in these rankings and climb for the second year in a row.

“This year-on-year progression is down to our continued commitment to the student experience here. Students come first during their time at Middlesex and leave ready to tackle the world in their chosen field with strong employability skills.

“Living and studying in London provides a unique and diverse perspective on the world. We’re proud of the tremendous value the Middlesex experience continues to provide and pleased that this is recognised in these rankings.”

The Complete University Guide table is based on ten measures: Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards, Student: Staff Ratio; Spending on Academic Services; Spending on Student Facilities; Good Honours Degrees Achieved; Graduate Prospects; and Completion.

Dr Bernard Kingston, Principal Author of TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk, said: “There is a considerable degree of stability at the upper end of the league table this year. While dramatic changes may be newsworthy, this stability indicates that the rankings are robust and credible for young people seeking a university place – our primary purpose.

“Last year’s Higher Education greenpaper, 'Higher education: teaching excellence, social mobility and student choice', stated that applicants need access to robust, timely and objective information, based on criteria that are straightforward and easily understood.

“TheCompleteUniversityGuide.co.uk meets these criteria and more, and makes all of its information freely available so that students are able to make informed choices."
