MOBO Award winning jazz duo Binker & Moses will headline at MDX Jazz Presents on 19 January at the Spice of Life in Soho, London.

MDX Jazz Presents – an event formed in collaboration with 'Spicejazz' club promoter Paul Pace in 2016 – showcases the work of Middlesex BA Jazz students past and present.

Since its inception in 1993, the BA Jazz course at Middlesex University has produced an array of highly innovative and creative musicians.

Binker Golding, whose drum-and-sax duo with Moses Boyd also won Best Newcomer at the Best Jazz/Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2016, is just one of many Middlesex alumni to have made a mark in the contemporary world of jazz.

Former students Hans Koller, Femi Temowo and Stian Westerhus have had a major impact on the UK jazz scene along with a new wave of Middlesex composers and improvisers such as Maria Chiara Argirò and the Mercury-nominate Led Bib.

“I learnt so many things in the classrooms at Middlesex – the nitty gritty of how a piece of music is put together and what is going on inside a musician’s head," Binker explained.

“It’s not the sort of thing you can learn by just turning up to jazz clubs and jam sessions.”

Also appearing at the event will be Triforce, an exciting new London jazz band.

Triforce’s Dominic Canning, Ricco Komolafe and Benjamin Appiah came together after meeting during their first year at Middlesex. They bonded over their shared interest in Jazz, Hip Hop and Neo Soul and joined forces with guitarist Mansur Brown.
