Corporate Social Responsibility
The CSR and Development Group concentrates less on the business case for CSR and more on corporate responsibility and its relationship to wider society. Several staff and associate professors conduct research on CSR and development – how CSR can advance the developmental goals such as poverty alleviation.
Current areas of special interest include:
Corporate Social Responsibility and Development
Investigating the challenges in maximising the positive impact of CSR on wider society particularly in the Third World.
Corporate Social Responsibility in Developing Nations
The CSR group at Middlesex carries out research on CSR in developing nations and emerging markets.
Concepts and Theory of Corporate Social Responsibility
The CSR group carries out work on critical theoretical and conceptual perspectives on CSR, in conjunction with the International Research Network on Business, Development and Society (BDS Network) co-founded by Middlesex University’s Prof. George Frynas. Work is being carried out on critical perspectives on CSR and the applicability of multiple theoretical perspectives (ranging from institutional theory to Austrian economics) for explaining social and environmental strategies of firms.
