Design

ADRI (the Art and Design Research Institute) was created in June 2007 and oversaw the successful submission of Art and Design research to the UK government’s Research Assessment Exercise in 2008. It now also embraces the work of the History of Art and Design group. ADRI is a prioritised area for research within the University, the others within the School of Arts and Education being Philosophy and Performing Arts.

ADRI embraces a rich and diverse range of research and business activities, with a remit to

  • maintain and improve research quality
  • increase external research income
  • enhance the visibility of research achievements

ADRI contributes to Design Advanced Research Training (DART), a shared doctoral training scheme linking several universities.
