European Design for All e-Accessibility Network
EDeAN UK: The National Contact Centre and Centre of Excellence in Design for All
The Design for All Research Group in the School of Computing Science at Middlesex University was appointed as the UK National Contact Centre and recognised as a centre of excellence by EDeAN. The group is headed by Gill Whitney.
The group has arranged workshops in the UK to address such issues as ethical relationships with potentially vulnerable user groups and the promotion of design for all in industry. Within the UK the group has strong contacts and working relationships with DTI contributing to the eInclusion Working Group and UK Disability and e-Accessibility Working Group, works with representatives from RNIB, RNID, Abilitynet and engages with design through the RSA.
EDeAN successfully bid for a Framework 6 Collaborative Action to support Design for All@ eInclusion. EDeAN UK leads workpackage 6 on Training and is working towards providing recognised training in Design for All in ICT at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, vocational qualifications and training for trainers. We are working closely with our partners throughout Europe representing academia, disability organisations and industry.

EDeAN European Design for All eAccessibility Network
EDeAN is a network of over 160 organisations with partners in 23 of the European Union member states. The goal of the network is to support all citizen's access to the Information Society.
EDeAN provides:
- a European forum for Design for All issues, supporting EU's e-inclusion goals
- awareness raising in the public and private sectors
- online resources on Design for All

Conference: Public Procurement of accessible ICT in Europe
Workshop: Utilising best practise in ICT Design for All Teaching
In a celebration of best practice in Design for All in ICT training delegates from around Europe attended a workshop held at the Trent Park Campus, Middlesex University. The speakers revealed how they have engaged their students with the issues of designing interactive technologies to meet the needs of a diverse community. These included the development of a design toolkit, a practical project working with children with special needs, an e-learning project with older adults and a video of older people buying and using digital TV.

- An online chat facility, information on NCC contact persons as well as links to all EDeAN member organisations.

EDeAN Special Interest Groups
EDeAN has so far established five thematic discussion groups - Special Interest Groups SIGs - for knowledge exchange and discussions related to Design for All and eAccessibility:
