We provide a range of initiatives designed to foster entrepreneurship and help those wishing to become self-employed.
Run out of the Business School, the Enterprise Development Hub (EDH@MDX) is a University-wide initiative. We equip students, staff and alumni with the confidence, knowledge and tools required to turn a smart business idea into reality or set up as a freelancer, consultant, contractor or sole trader.
Throughout the academic year, we run a series of workshops and seminars covering a wide range of topics including, innovation, business planning, the basics of business and networking, e-commerce, social enterprise and eco-enterprise.
We also run group and one-to-one mentoring sessions, as well as enterprise events such as the MDX Spring Fair and various competitions.
EDH@MDX is overseen by Business School academics who are also successful entrepreneurs in their own right.

MDXBusinessCrowdfund is our easy-to-use crowdfunding platform for students and staff. It offers a simple way of raising funds for a wide variety of projects, from business ideas, social enterprise and product development to events, research projects, personal challenges and much more.
MDXBusinessCrowdfund.com offers a number of distinct advantages over generic crowdfunding platforms, not least the advice and guidance we offer as part of our crowdfunding service. This includes access to a number of helpful guides through the platform itself and constructive feedback on crowdfunding campaigns before they go live.
Students and staff can also attend a wide variety of workshops covering everything from how to put together a successful campaign to filming a compelling crowdfunding video and engaging potential donors through targeted marketing and PR.
