External examinations of doctorates have been undertaken at City, Kent, Teeside, Manchester, Warwick, Bath, Kent, Strathclyde and Cardiff universities, as well as the University of New South Wales.
My research interests and outputs have spanned a wide range of issues within the fields of employment relations and occupational health and safety. Recent topics that have been a focus of research include the inter-organisational relations between multinationals and their overseas subsidiaries; the employment dynamics within domestic and global supply chains; the regulation of workplace health and safety within such chains; regulatory policy relating to occupational health and safety (including in relation to Covid-19); the links between employment regulation and manufacturing productivity; union renewal; the implmentation of a living wage in Scottish social care, and employment relations more widely in this sector.
