Maria has been teaching Spanish and Translation English-Spanish at Middlesex University since 2013. Before joining Middlesex University, Maria studied a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting at University of Alicante, Spain, and specialised in Legal and Business Translation. Maria also holds a MA in Education from Middlesex University. Her research topic focused on students’ motivation and the study of foreign languages in Higher Education.
Her career has developed along the fields of translation and education. Over the past years, she has taught Spanish to Arabic speakers at Eton Institute in the United Arab Emirates, as well as English as a Foreign Language at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain). As a translator and interpreter, Maria has engaged in various roles for the the Bolivarian Embassy of Venezuela in London and Ipsos Mori.
Maria enjoys sociolinguistics and she has always felt a particular interest in Middle Eastern cultures and Arabic language. Her research interests include Education and Development, Gender and Motivation.
