Maria Karamanidou is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Education - Science and Professional Studies at Middlesex University London. She has been a Primary school teacher for the last eight years and worked as a Middle Leader in a five form entry primary school in London. Being a Middle Leader provided her the opportunity to become the science coordinator for her school and fostered a learning environment and educational experience, which provided staff and children with the opportunity to fulfill their individual potential.
She has started her teaching career in a Greek school alongside doing her MA in Educational Leadership and Management at the University of Warwick. After successful completion she was offered a place to do her Doctoral Studies. She completed her PhD in Education with the title ‘Women principals in Cyprus primary schools: Barriers to accession’.
Maria has been involved and presented her research as well as publications in numerous educational conferences across the UK. She is an active article reviewer in ISEA and EMAL.
