Alison is passionate about the teaching of Mathematics to a variety of audiences. She teaches Mathematics, Probability Theory and Statistics to a variety of students. She is committed to developing personally as an excellent teacher and has received recognition for her excellence in teaching when she was appointed as a University Teaching Fellow.
Alison has been particularly involved with the planning and management of learning and teaching conferences and events that promote scholarly debate such as the Middlesex University annual and joint conferences including
Alison's current interests include the development of learning environments that have a positive impact on students' mathematical learning, techniques that can be used in class to promote mathematical learning particularly of approaches and concepts, how building mathematical objects can promote learning and also help students build confidence to discuss mathematical ideas with a variety of people, and how objects or artefacts that embody a mathematical concept can be used to engage students and promote learning in class.
