Toby is a writer, director, dramaturg, actor, designer and academic. After training with The National Youth Theatre and QE Theatre Academy, he studied BA Theatre Arts at Middlesex University. After graduating in 2020 he joined the staff team as a Graduate Academic Assistant, continuing training with various organisations, including Trinity. He is currently undergoing further training at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
His practice focused on writing new works for the stage, and his playwriting has been chosen as part of the winning selections for The ACT II Festival 2019 and the first ever TYPe It Up Scriptwriting Competition in 2017. He was long-listed in 2016 for The Papatango Playwriting Award, and has written and contributed to pieces which have been performed internationally. He also works as a director, dramaturg, actor and designer. He has taught for the Theatre, Music and Dance programmes at Middlesex and also for schemes at QE Theatre Academy, Bedford College, The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He is the artistic director of FiftySixty and a member of Pursued by a Dragon Theatre Company.
