Dr. Olugbenga (‘Olu’) Oluwagbemi is a Computer Scientist and occupies a UK Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor equivalent in USA) position in Computing Science, in the Department of Computer Science, Middlesex University London, United Kingdom. He also currently holds a C2 NRF (National Research Foundation) rated established researcher ranking in South Africa. Prior assuming these positions, Dr. Oluwagbemi was an Associate Professor of Computer Science & IT in Sol Plaatje University, South Africa, where he led a task team to establish the Centre for Applied Data Science in the University, engaged in conducting research in Artificial Intelligence, Computational modelling, and Bioinformatics. He was an AfOx visiting postdoctoral researcher in the Big Data Institute of the University of Oxford, UK. He was also respectively an NRF Innovation postdoctoral researcher and a DAAD Research Associate in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Stellenbosch University South Africa. He was also a Fulbright PhD research fellow in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, USA. He has over 16 years’ experience of teaching computer science courses/modules in different higher educational institutions.

Dr Oluwagbemi's research interests are: Artificial intelligence, AI in biomedical data science, computational modelling in health, computer-aided diagnosis, computational health informatics, informatics in medicine, Information Technology in Health, bioinformatics (computational genomics), machine learning, and the application of computational methods to solving problems caused by infectious and non-communicable diseases.
