Dr Elliot Schatzberger joined Middlesex University in September 2006 and is currently Module Leader for Contract Law and also for Equity & Trusts. Elliot also teaches on Land Law.
Elliot qualified as a Barrister from the Inns of Court School of Law and was called to the Bar in November 2005. He has worked extensively in-house for a number of criminal law firms in London and the South-East specialising in the defence of serious crime, representing clients at the Old Bailey, Snaresbrook and Southwark Crown Courts accused of Murder, Drugs offences, Sexual Offences and Fraud.
He also worked for the Ministry of Justice in Malawi representing clients on Death Row. In his 4 month stay he successfully instigated the release of 7 wrongly accused death row prisoners.
Elliot has also appeared in over 50 Immigration and Asylum Tribunal cases representing clients from Ghana, Jamaica, India and Iraq.
At Middlesex University, Elliot is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Learning & Teaching for the School of Law.
In 2018 Elliot graduated as Doctor of Professional Studies and also won the 'Best Academic Staff Member; School of Law' award at the Student Union Teaching Awards.
Elliot specialises in Contract Law, Land Law and Equity & Trusts, at both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate level
His text book 'Blueprints; Land Law’ for Pearson Education was published in May 2015
Elliot’s key areas of research interest lie within the subject of Land Law. He is currently focussing on the issue of Co-habitation co-ownership property rights and the recent criminalisation of Residential Squatters

Elliot has worked as a consultant for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, advising on Discrimination Law within the Recruitment process and has also advised The Landmark Hotel chain in relation to Sexual Harassment and Corporate Manslaughter
Elliot has also given presentations on Landlord & Tenant Law to the British Council of Shopping Centres focussing on Commercial Leases. Delegates included the owners of Westfield London and Meadowhall Sheffield.
