Martin taught illustration at Chelsea College of Art and Design and ran the foundation Visual Communication area at Croydon College. He has taught on the BA programme at what was the Surrey Institute,( now the University for Creative Arts), and is currently a 2nd year tutor on the Illustration and Animation BA course at Kingston University. He was a frequent visiting illustrator for the National Federation of Children's Books, South East Arts and Kent Young Peoples services.
He is currently head of second year illustration at Middlesex University.
