Student coverage of England footballers’ visit to Middlesex

All media degrees at Middlesex give students the opportunity to work on real-life projects – whether developing PR campaigns for charities such as Oxfam, filming TV shows with high-profile journalists, or covering sell-out cultural festivals as part of the official press pack.

In November 2014, England women's football stars Kelly Smith and Siobhan Chamberlain visited Middlesex University for a media event ahead of the sell-out friendly against Germany at Wembley – providing another chance for students to gain real media industry experience. Examples of the students' work can be found on this page.

BA Television Production students filmed the event, creating a news package which was broadcast on London Live and a behind-the-scenes film documenting the event.

BA Journalism and Media students covered the event, interviewing the players and writing news articles for their blogs.

BA Advertising, PR and Media students worked with the Football Association's PR team to organise the event and manage the press coverage – including that of BBC London, who filmed the event for their lunchtime bulletin.
