Developing inclusive education practice to support the needs of all learners is one of the most important challenges facing education professionals today. The MA Leading Inclusive Education is an exciting new distance-learning pathway for education professionals seeking to develop their leadership careers, offering alternatives to, and routes on from, current NCTL leadership qualifications and the National Award for SEN Coordination.
We've brought together some of the finest education leaders with the distance-learning experts, Real Training, to develop a new kind of learning experience that makes the most of the practical skills participants already have, allowing learning and development within a workplace setting and alongside colleagues. Through a mixture of 60 and 30 credit practice-led online modules, participants will build a portfolio of leadership skills and knowledge to suit the areas of inclusion that are most relevant to their setting.

How can you inspire, encourage and support others to develop inclusive practice in your setting? What does the latest research tell you about leadership styles and structures and how to harness them effectively? This 60-credit module completes the programme, enabling you to bring together what you have learned and apply your skills to develop, implement and evaluate an intervention in your chosen setting. Using the action research approach.
How diverse is your curriculum with respect to gender and sexuality? Do those engaged with learners in your setting appreciate the significance of socially constructed frameworks on those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex?
What are culture, identity and community? Where does one begin and the other end? What are the strategies that can be used in a modern educational setting to promote inclusion whilst respecting and valuing difference?
Bring your practice up-to-date with the latest thinking and emerging trends in working with children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Understand specific difficulties such as self-harm, anxiety, depressions, and eating disorders. Recognise the significance of social, emotional and mental health difficulties and their relationship to mental health theories about risk and resilience.
In this module you'll develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of learning needs, while focusing further on needs that may be particularly relevant to your setting in relation to learning differences such as gifted and talented, literacy difficulties, language difficulties, physical and sensory needs, and autism spectrum conditions.
In this module, you'll develop your knowledge and understanding of language and migration in the global context of the 21st century. The module focuses on two broad but intertwined areas of study. Firstly through theoretical perspectives and case-studies of schools and multilingual pupils, including some very young children, the module focuses on using first, second, additional and home languages in educational settings Secondly, the module examines the patterns of current and global migration.
In this module, you'll become well grounded in coaching and mentoring skills as key leadership tools to support and develop colleagues and build capacity within your setting.

If you’re a new student for January 2021, your teaching will start online due to national lockdown restrictions. If your course includes in person teaching on campus this will start sometime after mid-February when the lockdown ends.
The course is designed as a distance-learning package and can be accessed from anywhere in the world. It is delivered through the Real Training learning platform. You will work on practical assignments, as well as doing your own independent reading and research. You will produce written work including a dissertation, reports and a reflective journal. You will be allocated a tutor who will oversee your work.
The MA/PGDip/PGCert Leading Inclusive Education aims to accelerate promotion in the professional careers of professionals working in inclusion in schools and other settings. Depending on prior experience and career history, students will go on to positions as Heads of Year and Assistant Heads of Year; Heads and Assistant Heads of Inclusion; higher-level teaching assistants; social workers working with looked after children, and inclusion workers working with social services.
We’ll carefully manage any future changes to courses, or the support and other services available to you, if these are necessary because of things like changes to government health and safety advice, or any changes to the law.
