With an emphasis on practice, our MBA focuses on key management disciplines including financial and economic analysis, strategy and innovation, managing and developing people, global marketing management, operations and supply chain management, and cross-cultural management and ethics.
In your second year, you have the option to study a specialist elective online in place of one of the core modules as well as join other MBA students on a consulting project (for an additional fee) working in the field to address an organisational or industry-based challenge.
Your MBA culminates in a final project where you have the option to develop your consulting skills, write a business plan or engage in a more traditional academic report.
This programme is dual accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the only organisation in the UK that can award Chartered Manager status. Upon graduating, you will be eligible for a CMI Strategic Management and Leadership qualification (subject to CMI moderation) in addition to your Middlesex University Degree*. The qualification recognises the core skills necessary to succeed in Management and aims at enhancing employability and earning potential.

You will study the six core modules or five core modules plus an online elective in addition to your final Business Transformation Project. In addition, you will have the option of joining a field-based Consulting Project towards the end of your second year.

This module aims to raise awareness of the key areas relevant to effective people management and development. You will explore how these relate to the achievement of business and organisational goals and strategies.
This module will give you the knowledge, skills and theoretical understanding in a number of strategic aspects of financial management and economics. You will understand how they affect commercial organisations and also examine the interrelationships between key factors in the economic environment. You will evaluate the impact of shifts and changes in these factors on organisational decision-making and performance.
Marketing management involves satisfying customer needs and desires. In a globally competitive marketplace, the challenge is to select which markets to compete in, to make an integrated set of decisions about product and service design, pricing as well as distribution channels including considerations of advertising, branding, and promotions.
In order to navigate our complex, globalised environment, we need an understanding of the core values and norms of any organisation, the impact of policies and practices on all stakeholders and how to operate in a multi-cultural environment. This module is designed to provide you with the critical tools and mindset to analyse and identify responses to such challenges.
This module aims to develop your systematic knowledge and skills for understanding the complexity of the new digital landscape. This will focus on the use of e-marketing models, social media and e-tailing to produce a coherent digital marketing strategy.
This module aims provide you with the key transformation processes and related concepts/techniques both from an individual enterprise as well as a supply chain perspective. You will also cover both planning and control perspectives.
This module is field-based and is ideal if you want the opportunity to further integrate your learning from previous modules, working in groups to complete a live project based on a real organisational or sectoral theme. The project will culminate in a final consulting-type presentation outlining key recommendations.
This module allows you to further develop and integrate the skills and knowledge acquired during the course by working on a specific organisational issue or problem. You will be able to demonstrate proficiency in relation to scoping the issue(s)/problems, consideration of appropriate literature, collection and analysis of data, assessing the financial implications, including any cost/benefit analysis for justifying specific recommendations and consideration of implementation issues.
Optional modules are not offered on every course. If we have insufficient numbers of students interested in an optional module, or there are staffing changes which affect the teaching, it may not be offered. If an optional module will not run, we will advise you after the module selection period when numbers are confirmed, or at the earliest time that the programme team make the decision not to run the module, and help you choose an alternative module.

Assessment is coursework-based as we seek to test not only theory and its application to practice but also the depth of your understanding. You are required to undertake a final project on a topic of your choosing which can take a number of formats from working with a host organisation to developing a business plan. Throughout each term, online discussions and activities provide numerous opportunities to receive formative feedback to help you progress your learning.
