This programme will enable you to study a postgraduate degree pathway which has been planned by you and which reflects academic and professional development needs in line with the usual requirements for postgraduate level study. The open framework structure aims to facilitate pathway specialisation where possible and if desired.
This course is suitable for any practising graduate midwife and an individualised degree study pathway in which credits from prior study may be used. The study pathway can be tailored to current and future learning and development needs.
This programme enables you, the practising midwife, to plan an individualised pathway of postgraduate study designed to meet previously identified midwifery related professional and service development objectives. You will be able to demonstrate mastery in midwifery-related skills and knowledge in order to contribute to enhanced professional midwifery practice, research and service development.
The programme has been designed so that where possible, level 7 (and some level 6) credits which have been achieved through prior study are recognised as part of this programme (through pre-accreditation or Accredited Prior Learning). The modules can be taken at a pace and frequency according to your circumstances.
You must complete two core modules, shown below. In addition, you can choose subject specific optional modules according to your personal, professional, academic and service development needs. These modules will clearly demonstrate a study pathway in midwifery.
You will be able to choose either Social Research Methods (30 credits) or Advanced Practitioner Enquiry (30 credits)
You will be able to choose either MSc Dissertation (60 credits) or Work Based Learning Project (60 credits) Please note that this module is for MSc students only
