The MBA is the result of exhaustive research and has been developed in conjunction with maritime and logistics industry leaders, shipping executives, well-regarded academics and the next generation of management.

Each module uses a variety of learning tools, combining throughout into a varied and interactive course that offers the perfect synergy between theory and application.

Where will I study?

For distance learning courses, you can study from anywhere with an internet connection.

Teaching vs independent study

Outside of teaching hours, you’ll learn independently through reading articles and books, working on projects, undertaking research, and preparing for assessments including coursework and presentations.

Academic support

Our excellent teaching and support teams will help you develop your skills from research and practical skills to critical thinking.

Coursework, exams and assessments

We'll test your understanding and progress with informal and formal tests.

The informal tests usually take place at least once per module, from which you’ll receive feedback from your tutor. The grades from these tests don’t count towards your final marks.

There are formal assessments for each module, usually at the end, which will count towards your module and your final marks.

To successfully complete this course, you must pass each module and the final Business Transformation Project. Module assessments will incorporate coursework, online discussion participation, examinations and individual and group projects.

The final Business Transformation Project will allow you to analyse a current issue affecting your company or the industry, using real-world data and presenting realistic action points. • Colin Manchester

A very demanding course requiring individual commitment from all participating students. Such advice should not go unheeded to the prospective student, but of course with commitment comes reward, which means you will have earned your Masters in Business Administration, specialising in Shipping & Logistics.

  • Pavan V. Abhyankar

Chief Engineer, Dynacom Tankers Management Ltd

I know there are a lot of distance learning MBA programmes in the market but how many of them would take a student with a three-email-a-day and 15kb-limit-per-email (when out at sea which is almost 8 months of the year) limit with no attachments allowed, candidate in their stride and not just impart knowledge to him but, more importantly, broaden his horizons and open his world to the non-technical aspect of his field. I truly thank all who make an enormous effort to keep me up to date in every respect, despite the technical and communications challenges.

  • Moses Obichie

    Project Officer, Nigeria LNG Ltd

My work challenges and portfolio keep increasing everyday, and I believe a very intensive MBA like this one could help to position me to better manage my increasing responsibilities. I heard of this MBA about June last year but could not commence immediately because of my tight work schedule. I noticed my schedule got even tighter this year. I had no choice than to start TODAY because TOMORROW may be worse.

  • Peter L. Jackson

    Project Officer, Nigeria LNG Ltd

This MBA has challenged me academically and personally. I have found the material relevant and applicable. Embarking on this type of distance learning course at Master’s level is developing my ability to manage time, stress and priorities. I am really enjoying the experience.

  • Riaan Lottering

Walvis Bay Stevedoring Co. (Pty) Ltd

This MBA is encompassing all that I have learned and will give me decent qualification which is not easily found in the logistics field

  • Theodore Grammenos

    Naval Officer

I decided to enrol to this MBA program in order to acquire all the necessary tools that would allow me to pursue a job of high standards in the maritime industry, after retiring from the navy

  • Eng Hai Ooi

    Safmarine

After taking the course for a year, I find it a convenient way of earning a Master degree from a reputable University, as one can learn at one's own pace. But that doesn't mean one can take it easy, as the discipline required and the pressure of being a normal student exist. The content of the course is without doubt relevant to the current business global business environment and being the 1st batch for the course we are actively contributing to the school to improve the teaching means and the course content.

  • Mansoor A Mohamed

    Ruman Shipcontractors Ltd.

The course changed my ways of approaching issues. I am now more focused and business oriented.

We’ll carefully manage any future changes to courses, or the support and other services available to you, if these are necessary because of things like changes to government health and safety advice, or any changes to the law.

Any decisions will be taken in line with both external advice and the University’s Regulations which include information on this.

Our priority will always be to maintain academic standards and quality so that your learning outcomes are not affected by any adjustments that we may have to make.
