This programme comprises four 30-credit modules that are delivered through a combination of weekly and intensive engagement. Core knowledge and skills are embedded on a weekly basis in cohort and discipline-specific groups. Two intensive project modules, one group/one individual, allow you to focus in depth through your subject specialism.
Teaching is delivered through workshops, lectures, seminars, blended learning and tutorials. You also benefit from guest lecture series’ in the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries, and field trip visits to virtual performances and other live events in London.
As a student of this course you'll receive a free electronic textbook for every module.
This module provides you with fundamental written and oral communication skills required to study a performing arts-based subject (dance, music or theatre) at undergraduate level. This module aims to develop confidence and competence in the acquisition and use of academic English language skills, developing critical thinking and knowledge of discipline-specific vocabularies, forms and contexts. Weekly delivery.
This module develops core skills in one of the performing arts-based subjects (dance, music or theatre). It aims to develop confidence and competencies of the individual and lays the foundation for the development of the skills required for discipline-based practice. Weekly delivery.
You will work in cross-discipline groups on a supported, collaborative project, to share and to explore the ways in which performing arts disciplines interact. This is an intensive project.
This module provides the opportunity for you to choose a topic from a series of set questions, to research it and present findings in written form. You'll conduct an intensive period of research differentiated between your chosen area of study (dance, music or theatre).

Optional modules are usually available at levels 5 and 6, although optional modules are not offered on every course. Where optional modules are available, you will be asked to make your choice during the previous academic year. If we have insufficient numbers of students interested in an optional module, or there are staffing changes which affect the teaching, it may not be offered. If an optional module will not run, we will advise you after the module selection period when numbers are confirmed, or at the earliest time that the programme team make the decision not to run the module, and help you choose an alternative module.
We’ll carefully manage any future changes to courses, or the support and other services available to you, if these are necessary because of things like changes to government health and safety advice, or any changes to the law.
Any decisions will be taken in line with both external advice and the University’s Regulations which include information on this.
Our priority will always be to maintain academic standards and quality so that your learning outcomes are not affected by any adjustments that we may have to make.
At all times we’ll aim to keep you well informed of how we may need to respond to changing circumstances, and about support that we’ll provide to you.
