Becoming a commercial airline pilot is a big challenge and this course allows you to enhance your career opportunities from cadet right through to captain. In partnership with L3Harris Airline and Academy Training Ltd, a world leading airline training company with headquarters in Crawley, you’ll work towards a qualification based on technical and practical flying experience.
This course is designed to allow you to study towards your degree while undertaking pilot training. In your final year, the programme is fully integrated into the initial stages of your career as a commercial pilot. Incorporating Civil Aviation Authority training, by the end of the course you'll be awarded with a frozen air transport pilot's licence (ATPL(F)).
Right from the start of the programme you'll join the L3Harris Airline and Academy Training Ltd and take on the Ground School and Flying Training. Through our blended learning approach, you’ll combine knowledge and learning to develop the skills you’ll need when you’re a commercial pilot.
Using a variety of media and online tools, you’ll have access to a host of tools and applications so you can learn through online workshops, blogs, podcasts and more.
You’ll be assessed for your theoretical knowledge in your introduction to flying and ground school, as well as practically assessed in your flying training modules.

At the start of the programme you will join L3Harris Airline Academy and proceed through Ground School and Flying Training. You will be examined in accordance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations at the appropriate points and awarded academic credit for completion of:
Your Type Rating and Base Training courses provide the starting point for Level 6 of the programme, which will be overseen by Middlesex University in partnership with your employer. The remaining University modules at Level 6 relate to your operational practice and employer based training undertaken during the first 6-12 months of your flying career including: Aircraft Specifics; Airline Orientation and Integration; Evaluating and Managing Risks; Threat and Error Management

This programme allows you to study towards a degree while undertaking pilot training and uniquely, the final year of the programme is designed to be fully integrated with the initial stages of your career as a professional pilot. This will enhance your career progression opportunities through being a cadet to First Officer and thereafter to Captain.
