Jeff Evans, author of Rock & Pop on British TV, joins us to tell the fascinating story of 60 years of music on television in this illustrated talk, beginning in the 1950s with shows such as Six-Five Special and Oh Boy! and continuing through the decades with programmes including Juke Box Jury, Thank Your Lucky Stars, Ready, Steady, Go!, Top of the Pops, The Old Grey Whistle Test, The Tube and Later with Jools Holland, as well as a number of programmes you may have forgotten! Expect lots of warm memories and more than a few surprises. Questions and refreshments will follow the talk and a limited number of copies of Jeff's book will also be available for sale.
Jeff Evans has been a freelance journalist for 30 years. He is the author of 30 books, including The Penguin TV Companion, Midsomer Murders: The Making of an English Crime Classic and Rock & Pop on British TV. He also writes about beer and for several years was editor of CAMRA's national Good Beer Guide.
