Our criminology courses prepare you for your future career with real world experiences before you graduate.
You’ll have the option to take a placement in your third year as a module or you can extend your programme to four years and do a full year of work experience. We’ll support you in finding the right placement for you through our outstanding Employability Service.
You’ll get hands-on experience from our variety of practical projects throughout your degree. Most of our modules have a practical assignment like group projects, presentations, and more.
You'll also get the chance to participate in field trips and visits, where you’ll see criminology in action at our partner organisations like prisons and courtrooms.
Criminology is a broad subject with many different career paths you can pursue during your studies.
As your lectures and seminars begin, you will identify certain modules that align more with your passions and career aspirations and to ensure you can specialise your learning to your interests, you will be able to select from a range of modules in year two.
On top of this, you can decide to take either a term-long or year-long placement to specialise your learning even further, whilst simultaneously boosting your employability prospects post-graduation.
We partner with many organisations to ensure you’re prepared for graduation. You’ll interact with them through field work, projects, and guest lectures where you’ll take your theory from the classroom and apply it to real world issues.
We partner with a variety of organisations from the Met Police to local councils or prison groups.
You’ll also have the opportunity to expand your network through our links to the industry. Whether you’re looking to take on a placement or for work after graduation, we’ll connect you to the right people and organisations, no matter your area of interest.
