Middlesex students showcase their creations at national design exhibition

Jewellery and product design students show off their innovative creations at the New Designers show and scoop a prize for their display.

The New Designers show is held annually to provide a platform for the work of the next generation of up and coming designers from across the country. Middlesex jewellery students exhibited their stunning designs in a purpose built exhibition stand, which was given an award for the New Designers Best Stand.

The winning students were presented with a trophy, framed certificate and champagne. The New Designers judges commented it was a “contemporary bold and very professional stand with fantastic use of the space. A great deal of thought has gone into a very coordinated stand.”

Held at the Business Design Centre in Angel, north London, the show is split in two parts.  Middlesex jewellery students participated in Part One, which showcased designers in areas such as fashion, textiles, ceramics and jewellery. Product designers from Middlesex University participated in Part Two, which focused on furniture design, illustration, architecture, interior design and product design.

Middlesex’s product design students used the exhibition to show off their impressive creations which included an external portable flash for mobile phones, intelligent security system, vibrating foam massager for sports people and a system that allows you to create a bespoke bag in accordance with your needs and lifestyle.

The show, which ends on the 6 July, brings together young design talent and businesses enabling the students to network with design leaders and journalists.
