Centre for Public Health and Risk Management

Public health affects us all in multiple ways and risk management helps us to prioritise what’s most important.

Public health is a wide ranging concept and includes wellbeing and quality of life. Here we focus on research and evaluation around population and community health, supporting the delivery of effective evidence based strategies and interventions to deliver interventions where inequalities are at their most acute.

We can offer a multi-disciplinary approach to research and enterprise activities, including at practitioner level. We seek to support the process of decision making and outcomes through sound research across a range of organisations and stakeholders.

Our particular interests are around epidemiology, environmental health, housing, population ageing, history of public health, public health nutrition, effectiveness of interventions as well as arts and health.

We are increasingly working to develop our research platforms and outputs and are happy to support your work through researcher or student centred collaboration. Our emphasis on public health in practice utilises a range of methodologies appropriate to meet research need in complex settings in the development of ever more effective strategies and interventions to deliver effective change where it is most needed.
