Worldwide interest in complementary health is growing at an exciting rate of speed. The need for authoritative and practical research is growing too. Our researchers are ahead of curve, leading important projects that help bring the benefits of these effective medicines to people who need.

Our research is also a key teaching aid that enhances the student experience and provides a keen working environment for our vibrant academic community.

Groundbreaking findings

Our specialist team are experts in herbal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic medicine. Currently, staff are collaborating on a variety of projects, including:

  • Clinical research into the medicinal use of herbs
  • Laboratory-based research on quality control in herbal products and the potential for herb-drug interactions
  • Defining appropriate methodologies for researching the experiences of population groups in their use of specific complementary and alternative medicines.
