Writtle House

Stay in a historic and charming building visited by the royal family

It’s quieter than our other halls here so it'll suit you as a mature student. Rooms have shared bathrooms and kitchens with a shared area for group study, TV lounge and pool table and outdoor space. This is our smallest hall however there are plenty of students around as it’s on the same site as Platt Hall.

How to apply for halls

Guaranteed place for first year students

We guarantee a place in halls for all full-time UK, EU and international undergraduate and postgraduate students joining us for their first year of study in 2021. This guarantee is for UK students who confirm their offer and apply for accommodation before 30 June 2021, and EU/international students who confirm their offer and apply for accommodation before 12 August 2021.

Places in Middlesex's own halls are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. The university also works with a number of private providers to ensure there are places available once our own halls are fully occupied.

Maintaining high standards

Our halls are all managed by Optivo, a housing association that specialises in student accommodation. We're committed to providing a friendly, safe, student-focused environment – and we've signed up to national codes of standards for accommodation to ensure this. For Writtle House, Optivo has signed up to the ANUK code.

The Study4Success Award

Each year, Optivo sponsor an award for students who have made a difference to society. It helps students achieve their goals by providing more than £5,000 towards the cost of accommodation. For more information on this award, visit our Study4Success page.
