Studying with us during coronavirus in 2021

Dominican Republic MESCyT Scholarship

Since 2014 Middlesex University has been welcoming recipients of the Dominican Republic’s MESCyT scholarship onto our wide range of master’s programmes. The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation costs and monthly living stipend for MESCyT master’s students studying overseas. In September 2016 Middlesex welcomed a group of 24 students (pictured above) to study with us.

Reasons MESCyT Students choose Middlesex

  • We have a representative in the Dominican Republic who guides students through the process (Details below)
  • All our programmes are internationally recognised
  • 91% of our graduates are employed within 6 months of graduating (Source: HESA 2016)
  • Graduates from Middlesex have gone on to work with companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Goldmac Sacs, the European Union, BBC, Reuters,  Sony, British Petroleum and Shell

Applying to Middlesex

Students will need to apply directly to Middlesex to receive an offer to study, and will need to apply directly to MESCyT to apply for the scholarship, specifying the Middlesex programme in the application form.

Visit the MESCyT website for more information and scholarship application portal.

To apply to our master’s programmes, you must submit an application via our postgraduate application portal here. You will need the following supporting documents:

  1. University transcripts and certificate of completion
  2. Personal statement
  3. At least one letter of academic reference and one letter of professional reference (in headed paper and signed)
  4. First page of passport
  5. CV
  6. English certificate, typically IELTS or TOEFL. To see the list of approved English tests, click here. We highly recommend that applicants take their English exam the year before applying to the university, bearing in mind that these tests have a 2 year validity.

Please bear in mind that if any of the documents are in a language other than English, you must submit the original and an officially translated copy.

Accommodation for MESCyT Students

MESCyT covers the accommodation costs and this is paid directly to the university. The regional office blocks a set of rooms with the number of students that have been granted a scholarship. You do not need to apply to a hall of accommodation. However, please be aware that the bedroom provided will not be available past next year’s entry date. Once your scholarships have been confirmed by the Ministry, you will receive a contract of accommodation which you must sign and return. No deposit fee is required.

Confirmation of Acceptance of Students (CAS)

The Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies is a code needed to apply for a student visa. You may begin a visa application at any point, but you must not submit a visa application until you receive your unique CAS. The university can only send out CAS to students who provide a translated document that confirms their financial sponsorship from MESCyT.
