What made you choose Middlesex University?

I was searching for a university with a suitable master’s degree in graphic design by keeping my core expertise in mind and I came across Middlesex University. A key influence in my decision was Dr Phil, who was the programme leader at the time and he gave me a lot of help and insight.

How did your course and time at Middlesex help you get to where you are professionally today?

I was fortunate enough to have fellow students from a variety of different countries, which gave me the opportunity to understand their backgrounds and also learn from their expertise. I feel like I got exposure to international design scenarios from the classroom. In addition, my tutors were very helpful and gave one to one sessions to ensure we understood everything clearly.

What made you choose the industry you work in and what are its pros and cons?

I was already working within design before applying to Middlesex University but I wanted to develop myself and the direction I wanted to go in changed after my masters for sure. I enjoy working within the design industry as being involved in creative work is exciting. There are new challenges daily and I get to work directly with international clients from India.

The only challenge for me personally is the fact that technology is constantly changing. Technology is an essential part of the creative industry and it can be hard keeping up with the rapid changes. I have to constantly update my skill set.

What are the top three tips you would give to current students and recent graduates who are looking for a similar career to yourself?

  • Create what is not there.
  • Challenge what is there.
  • Make life simple for your end users.

What has been your proudest achievement to date?

It would have to be a project I worked on a few years back; I designed the visual communications and branding for a Finnish client, while I was leading an Australian design Studio in India.

I felt proud because my own work and the education I had obtained helped me to create trust in people from three different countries at same time.

I have found that doing a master’s has enabled me to grow faster compared to my other classmates in India so it is something I would definitely recommend, especially if you plan to work internationally.
