    Our halls

Our four halls of residence range from traditional accommodation with study bedrooms and shared facilities, to modern en-suite rooms in contemporary student blocks:

    • Usher Hall – just across the road from the main Hendon campus
    • Platt Hall - 20 minutes' walk from campus (on a shared site with Writtle House)
    • Writtle House - 20 minutes' walk from campus
    • Ivy Hall - 15-20 minutes from campus by public transport

Each student hall of residence includes:

    • Bed (single) with duvet, duvet cover, pillow and pillowcase
    • Bedside cabinet
    • Chair, desk, and wardrobe
    • Communal lounge
    • Free wireless Internet access
    • Laundry facilities
    • Security staff and wardens
    • Shared kitchens, typically with cooker, fridge-freezer, kettle, toaster and microwave

    Allocation of rooms

We have a limited number of rooms available, and as such, prioritise first-year students who have made us their first choice university, and those who are travelling the furthest distance to join us. Priority generally goes to full-time international students from outside the EU, after which we then try to accommodate UK and EU students who are based furthest away.

Prospective students living within the M25 can apply for accommodation, but these applications will not be considered until the middle of September.

    Maintaining high standards

Our halls are all managed by Viridian Housing, a housing association that specialises in student accommodation. We're committed to providing a friendly, safe, student-focused environment – and we've signed up to national codes of standards for accommodation to ensure this. For Platt Hall, Usher Hall, and Writtle House, Viridian has signed up to the ANUK code. For Ivy Hall the University has signed up to the UUK code.

    The Study4Success Award

Each year, Viridian Housing sponsor an award for students who have made a difference to society. It helps students achieve their goals by providing more than £5,000 towards the cost of accommodation. For more information on this award, click here.
