Create an Event page

How to use

  • Add a Title for the Event
  • Select category(s) for the Event Category
  • Optionally add Subject(s) for the Subject, separating multiple values with a pipe | e.g., Accounting|Art. This is only used for a filter in Site Search.
  • Select a suitable image from the Media Library for the Image
    Recommend image is at least 1420px 965px. The image can be any size or aspect ratio, and will be cropped and resized to the various different images used for events automatically by a service called PXL. Find out how PXL crop and resize works.
  • Add the Start Date of the Event and End Date of the Event including the time using the date pickers
  • Optionally add a Location
  • Add a Summary of the Event, this is displayed in the masthead on the Event page, used in Event Listings and for the meta description for SEO
  • Optionally add the full URL including https:// for the Book Your Place URL, this displays a 'Book your place' CTA in the masthead
  • Use the Show Share Options element to toggle whether options to share the page on social media channels are shown, this option is checked by default
  • Add a Description, containing the full details of the Event. See General Text examples for content options.
  • To optionally add a Video:
    • Paste the URL for a YouTube or Vimeo video e.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUlJWogLJYE or https://vimeo.com/678127987 in the Video URL element
    • If using a YouTube video leave the Video Image element blank and the default thumbnail from YouTube will be used. 
      Select a suitable image from the Media Library for the Video Image to overwrite the default YouTube thumbnail or add always for Vimeo videos.
      Recommend image is at least 2160px x 1136px. The image can be any size or aspect ratio, and will be cropped and resized to 2160px x 1136px automatically by a service called PXL. Find out how PXL crop and resize works.
    • Add a Video Callout, this is text that displays next to the play button over the Video Image
    • Optionally add a Video Transcript, this is a transcript of spoken words which is a requirement for accessibility. When populated the transcript displays in the modal below the video in an accordion 
  • Optionally add up to 2 speakers for the Event. For each speaker:
    • Select a suitable image from the Media Library for the Speaker - Image.
      Recommend image is at least 900px x 900px. The image can be any size or aspect ratio, and will be cropped and resized to 900px x 900px automatically by a service called PXL. Find out how PXL crop and resize works.
    • Add a Speaker - Name
    • Add a Speaker - Title
    • Add a Speaker - Description

Additional Content

After adding your Event content item additional content can be added using any content type listed in the Creating Content section of the Content Types page. Ensure the Event is the first content item in the section.
