Students in a graphics studio working

My name is Michael Wright and I am the program leader for the BA Graphic Design course.

We have a real emphasis on ideas and process and play and experimentation, always being curious about what they're doing.

My name is Louise Weir and I'm Programme Leader in Illustration.

So we encourage people to get dirty in the print room and the life drawing room.

And we also have ceramics and 3D animation.

Anything that is here in the building, I encourage students to use.

I've used the photography studio, the people there are nice.

The guys are so nice and there's so much you can do.

The more you go into it, you realise everything is for you and it feels personal and you can use it even outside of projects.

I love our life drawing room and printmaking workshops.

Uou have the beauty of this amazing campus, which is quite a leafy green campus, you know, but you're still really close to all the museums and art galleries and everything going on in central London.

You develop such a broad skill set.

So we do have students that go in as a job role as a Graphic Designer, but we also have students that go in as a Digital Product Designer, or they might go into more film and photography based areas, they might go into more animation based areas.

We embed all of these things.

I've been asking to my tutors for, like, internships.

they're definitely willing to explain me how even like to build my portfolio and everything.

So they're definitely helping me to understand what kind of job I want to do in the future and how to do it as well.

From the onset we have briefs that have got deadlines, that have got criteria that are based on the market, and that's kind of um because of how it is in the real world.

If you can find a creative that believes in you and and gives you the chance, um then anything's possible with illustration.

We can set what we call an agency environment.

So we set it so the client actually comes in, they brief the project to the students.

The students have to pitch their ideas and they present the final outcomes at the end to the client as well.

So it actually mimics what they would be doing in industry.

Our students, um, if you have a look on our Instagram, you'll see the range of student prizes and achievements that we've got out there.

It's kind of too many to mention, really.

But they are a really talented bunch.
