University shortlisted for Best Facilities and Best Student Support
Middlesex has been nominated for two Whatuni 2015 Student
Choice awards, after more than 20,000 students across the UK cast their views.
Overall, 111 universities were considered for a Student
Choice Award and 39 universities received a nomination, with Middlesex
nominated for both Best University Facilities and Best Student Support.
Both undergraduate and postgraduate students were encouraged
to rate their university across nine areas such as Course and Lecturers,
Students' Union, and Accommodation. Their opinions are seen as vital to those
choosing where to study in the future.
"For prospective students, being able to hear first-hand
about the quality of education and realistic expectations for life at uni is an
invaluable resource when making a decision to pursue degree-level studies," commented
Whatuni Managing Director Simon Emmett.
Director of Library and Student Support at Middlesex Nick
Bevan said he was delighted that Middlesex's support services have received a
nomination: "It
reflects the value that students place on the services we offer and the
staff that deliver these, from our front-line UniHelp service, which is
open seven days a week, to the specialist wellbeing, welfare,
international support and student achievement teams, and the
academic support that is embedded into the curriculum."
Head of Facilities Lorraine Sexton said it was fantastic
that Middlesex students are benefitting from the significant investment the
University has made in its facilities in recent years.
"We are delighted to receive this nomination; it is fantastic news for the whole team and we
are so pleased to hear that our students have taken the time to show their
appreciation for the work that we do to ensure they have a great university
experience."
The results of the annual Whatuni Student Choice Awards will
be announced later this month.
