Wins include Silver for University of the Year and the Gold award for campus facilities
Middlesex University has won Silver in the University of the Year category and top honours with a Gold for the best estate facilities in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2025.
The University of the Year Award recognises universities that go above and beyond for their students, recognising excellence across all aspects of student life such as support services, teaching quality and facilities, while the Facilities Award highlights outstanding campus facilities and resources for students to use during their studies.
In the international category, Middlesex also gained a Bronze award which celebrates the support and experience that the University provides for its students from overseas.
Voted for exclusively by students, the awards, now in their 13th year, are the biggest of their kind and give institutions recognition for exceeding student expectations over the past year.
They take data from tens of thousands of student reviews from across the country to calculate the winners.
“Middlesex University students benefit from studying at a calm, quiet campus with plenty of green spaces, while being only 20 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of central London.
“The wide range of food and drinks vendors on campus is also a frequent mention. Middlesex has a great careers and employment service, and students have ready access to the massive and extremely diverse job market of the Greater London area.”

Students reported that what they most loved about Middlesex was the University’s diverse community, supportive staff, outstanding campus facilities, hands-on practical courses that prepare them for successful careers, and the North London location.
Aivin Saji, MDXSU President, said: "These awards reflect how the University and Students’ Union have come together to truly put students first, making Middlesex a place where students can thrive."
Dr Ellen Buck, the University’s Pro Vice Chancellor for Education and Student Experience, said: “These awards are all about the student voice. The fact that students nominated Middlesex University in seven categories and we won three awards is fantastic.
“Winning Gold for our campus facilities, Silver as University of the Year, and Bronze for how we support our international students is testament to our commitment to put students at the centre of everything we do.
“I want to thank all our students and assure them that at Middlesex we will continue to strive to maintain and improve our high standards on their student experience. I also want to thank our staff for their hard work and commitment to deliver an excellent university experience for our students with everything they need to prepare for their future.”
Nick Wise, the University’s Head of Facilities Management and Security Services, said: “I was very proud to accept the top Facilities Award on behalf of the University and colleagues who work tirelessly to make Middlesex so special.
“This award is a true testament to the support given to students and staff by the Facilities teams. This is the only University Award based on reviews by students, which makes it all the more special. It is not just Facilities, it’s the support and input from so many other Middlesex colleagues collaborating to give our students the best experience.”
