Alumni postgraduate awards: terms and conditions

The following awards are available to support UK and International Middlesex University alumni or students at the end of their programmes who want to continue their educational journey with us.

Alumni postgraduate awards

Promoting alumni progression is central to our commitment to support our students in their professional development. The terms and conditions below explain what the offer means for students and the awarding process. Please read below so that you aware of the eligibility criteria, terms and conditions and exclusions.

Eligibility for MDX ​alumni discount

A current Middlesex student predicted to achieve a BA, BSc, masters, MPhil and PhD classification degree from us, and alumni who have achieved one of these classification degrees from us, are entitled to a postgraduate alumni discount of 20% on master's, MPhil and PhD courses delivered solely by Middlesex University on the London campus. If they are applying for an MDX Studios creative course beginning in September 2026, they are entitled to an additional 20% discount.

Students on courses run by our academic partners predicted to achieve a BA, BSc, masters, MPhil and PhD degree, and alumni of the aforementioned courses run by our academic partners, are entitled to a postgraduate alumni discount of 10% on master's, MPhil and PhD courses delivered on the London campus. If they are applying for an MDX Studios creative course beginning in September 2026, they are entitled to an additional 20% discount. Those students and alumni of courses run at or with our academic partners achieving other qualifications – please get in touch with our admissions team to discuss in more detail.

Ineligible courses and applicants

Please note:

  • CPD courses, PGCE courses, integrated master's courses, and top-up courses are not eligible for the postgraduate alumni discount or MDX Studios discount. 
  • Courses delivered by MDX Dubai, courses delivered by MDX Mauritius, and courses run by our academic partners are not eligible for the postgraduate alumni discount 
  • Students on a PGCert or PGDip course applying to a Master’s degree, MPhil or PhD at London campus, solely delivered by Middlesex University, are not eligible for the postgraduate alumni discount or MDX Studios discount. 
  • Students on an undergraduate Foundation Year course applying to an undergraduate course or PGCE are not eligible for the postgraduate alumni discount or MDX Studios discount.

Terms and conditions

Alumni Postgraduate Award

The Alumni Postgraduate Award is subject to the terms and conditions below.  You are encouraged strongly to read these terms and conditions so that you are clear as to whether your proposed course of study is eligible for an Alumni Award. 

There is no separate application process for your alumni award - highlight on your application that you are an alumni during the admissions process to ensure the award is applied. This award is only valid at Middlesex University London. 

Terms and conditions

  • Applicants must meet standard course entry requirements (and visa entry requirements where applicable), have accepted an offer, enrolled and attended an eligible course. 
  • This award is open to UK, EU and International students studying full time or part time postgraduate studies. 
  • This award is only eligible for Masters, MPhil and Phd courses delivered solely by Middlesex University at the London campus.  
  • This award cannot be combined with any other discounts or scholarships unless explicitly stated. 
  • There is no need to apply for the award, as it will be processed automatically. Students who think this has been missed are advised to speak to the Student Fees and Finance Team via Unihelp.  
  • No cash or other alternatives will be made beyond the tuition fee reduction.  
  • The award can also be applied twice to the same individual as long as the individual has completed the PGT degree. For example a student completing a PGT (postgraduate taught/masters) degree and then applying for a PGR (postgraduate research/PhD)  
  • The University reserves the right to limit the number of discounted places and withdraw the offer at any time. 
  • Where courses are part sponsored such as the MA Social Work, The Alumni Postgraduate Award will only apply to the fee contribution paid by you. 

The following students will not be eligible for the Alumni Postgraduate Award. This does not affect their eligibility for different awards. Anyone unsure can speak to our Admissions team to confirm.  

  • Students who are undertaking a Continuing Professional Qualification (CPD) at Middlesex University, or are completing a single module of study under a CPD qualification will not be entitled to the alumni discount 
  • Students moving from a foundation course to an Undergraduate degree or to a PGCE course.  
  • Students continuing from PGCert/PGDip on to a postgraduate course.  
  • Students completing introductory courses run through the MDX Summer School as pathways into postgraduate courses 
  • Students on PGCE and integrated masters courses, as these attract other types of funding 
  • Students in receipt of any other discount or bursary, including international merits/regional awards and other fee waivers 
  • Students studying top-up courses 
  • Those studying courses at / with our academic partner institutions.

2026/27 Arts and Creative Industries new MA course alumni award

An introductory fee discount offer.

This one-off introductory 40% tuition fee discount is available exclusively to Middlesex University graduates applying to selected new MA programmes in the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries. This is comprised of the 20% discount from the existing Alumni postgraduate award and an additional 20% introductory fee discount on these specific MA courses.   • Students studying at one of our academic partners will be eligible for a 30% tuition fee discount when applying to one of the new MA programmes, subject to the remaining terms and conditions. This is comprised of the 10% discount from the MDX partners discount and an additional 20% introductory fee discount on these specific MA courses.   • The offer applies only to students starting in the 2026/27 academic year and cannot be deferred. 
  • Full fees for 2026 entry are £13,700 for Home students and £20,100 for International students. Discounts outlined in the table above will be applied to these standard fees subject to the eligibility outlined in these terms and conditions. Fees for students and alumni from academic partners will be different – see table above.

  • This scheme is open to UK, EU and International students studying full time or part time postgraduate studies. 
  • This offer replaces the standard 20% alumni discount and cannot be combined with any other discounts or scholarships. 
  • There is no need to apply for the award, as it will be processed automatically. Students who think this has been missed are advised to speak to the Student Fees and Finance Team via Unihelp.  
  • All new courses are subject to final validation approval and minimum cohort numbers. 
  • The University reserves the right to limit the number of discounted places and withdraw the offer at any time.
