Portfolio Preparation Workshop

Wednesday 5 Nov, 10:00AM to 1:30PM

This hands-on workshop is designed to support students aged 16+ in developing a strong, well-structured portfolio for applications to university. The day will begin with an introduction to what makes an effective portfolio, including advice on selecting and presenting work, demonstrating creative thinking, and tailoring content to specific contexts.

Students are encouraged to bring their own work physical or digital and will have the opportunity to receive one-to-one guidance from academic staff.

In addition to reviewing content, the workshop will cover practical skills such as:

  • How to photograph and document work clearly and professionally
  • Creating a digital portfolio and managing digital file sizes and formats
  • Organising and sequencing work.

By the end of the day, students will have a clearer understanding of how to curate and present their work effectively.

CPD Outreach Day: Creative Futures - Exploring Emerging Technologies in Practice

Friday 21 November, 9:00AM to 3:30PM

Workshop 1: Get Animated: Where Analog Meets AI

Mixing traditional animation techniques with digital tools. Get hands on with stop motion techniques and see where traditional mediums are headed in the future with a non-technical introduction to AI’s impact on the creative industries.

Workshop 2: Digital Scanning and Augmented Reality

In this workshop, participants will learn how to scan student models and how to import the scans into Adobe Aero, where they’ll create a short video projecting the model into a space.

Workshop 3: Creative use of AI and what students need to know

An introductory workshop covering practical uses for artificial intelligence in the creative process and some of the pitfalls

Plus – you’ll get to chat through your options with NHS staff, including doctors, nurses, midwives, art therapists, mental health professionals and many more.

Monthly subject-specific tours at Saracens' stadium for your students

You and your students can join us for a tour of the Healthcare, Science and Sports facilities at our new high-tech training centre at West Stand StoneX Stadium. A £24 million centre of excellence for simulation-based learning, in partnership with Saracens. It has the latest tech and facilities to help you link classroom theory with professional skills.

Middlesex University Teachers’ and Careers Advisors’ Conference

We are excited to announce that we are running our Middlesex University Teachers’ and Careers Advisors’ Conference.

Join us to discover the options available to students transitioning to Higher Education, from undergraduate degrees to apprenticeships. There will also be an opportunity to hear from Middlesex University academics, students and senior staff, and view our fantastic facilities. You will also be able to network with advisors, teachers and university staff.

Past Events

Year 12 students were invited to see The North London Degree Show 2024: Creative Landscape on Tuesday 11 June, 10am to 3.30pm, which showcased the work of the graduating students of the Schools of Art, Design and Film. This was  a great opportunity for students to see the fantastic work completed by our students.

During our Lunchtime Learning webinar for teachers and careers advisors, we discussed applying for student finance, loan repayments and the new Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE). View the recording.

For National Careers Week we worked in collaboration with Barnet Council to run a Sustainable Fashion Workshop for groups of Year 12 and 13 students from local schools and colleges in the Borough of Barnet.

We created the workshop to show students how to customise and upcycle old clothing as part of our commitment to the environment and sustainability.

Our summer faculty days ran from 11 June to 3 July 2025. With a wide range of subjects to explore, they were a fantastic opportunity for students to get hands-on experience and a taste of university life. The days included a series of practical workshops led by our staff, academics and students.
